Electronic Gremlin
Hey all, just had something weird happen to my 2011 LR4 with 162,000 miles. We were an hour into our drive home from a weekend trip and all of a sudden all of the electronics in the car went dark. The center console screen, A/C, turn signals, you name it; nothing was working. The car still was driving fine, but couldn't put a signal on or use anything electronic. I pulled off the highway to make sure I still had brake lights and to restart to see if it was just needing to reset the car. As I pulled into the gas station parking spot I noticed all the safety controls (stability control, emergency brake assist, HDC, etc., etc.) beginning to shut down and throw up warnings on the dash. I shut the car down and tried to restart, but the car kept saying that it couldn't recognize the key (battery was just replaced in the key and has been working as it should). After several attempts to restart, jump with cables, disconnect the battery and pull fuses I finally had to have it towed to an indy shop. They are going to look at it today. Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar? Battery and alternator seem to be good as the battery was still sparking with cables and I had overhead lights when the doors were open. It had rained pretty heavily the night before, could it be tied into that? Any help would be awesome. Thanks all!

Hey all, sorry for the delay in response. Have been dealing with this among other things... Turns out the vehicle was totaled out by my insurance for total electronic failure. After running diagnostics and inspecting the vehicle, water had gotten into the vehicle and fried 80% of the electronic modules through the gear box/shifter panel in the center of the car. Took it in for a few opinions and everyone came to similar conclusions and estimated I'd be looking at about $15,000-20,000 worth of work... Once the effected modules were replaced there is no telling if the electronics issue would even be resolved and quite frankly, I don't even think I'd feel comfortable driving it after that. Sadly, I took the loss and cleaned out the car.
