Default Equivalent in ride to LR4

Okay guys, I know this sounds crazy, but I have a 2012 LR4 and have had since it rolled off the truck in 2011. I've tried to find something that I like driving just a much, but I just haven't. Since that time, I've had the MB GL, BMW X5M, Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit, Cadillac CTS-V, Toyota 4Runner and I've also test driven a number of other vehicles. The problem is, I've just not found a vehicle that feels like the LR4. I don't even know how I'd describe it other than saying it's solid and smooth.

Surely there are some other vehicles that compare, but I don't know what they are. I'd love to know what you've driven that offers a comparable experience. Cost is not really an issue if it's the right vehicle, so if you've found one, please let me know.

Thanks!

Other than the Summit, none of the other vehicles you've had come close. Now try owning a new Ranger Rover (not sport), it's ever superior to the Discoverys. The Jeep Summit Overland 4X4 with the Delphi all-terrain and air suspension (same as Land Rover) is the closest you'll find but Land Rovers feel more spacious inside and are further refined. Unfortunately the Discovery 5's quite a boring departure from its predecessor...

I have been looking as well. I love my 2011 LR4. But its getting old, sadly there is nothing out there that comes close. I may end up with a Volvo wagon for long highway runs, and just keep the LR4 for the fun stuff.

Ineos Grenadier. Drove one about a month ago and it was brilliant.

That’s why we keep repairing and maintaining our aging LR4’s. Because very few if any other cars have both highway passing when you’re already going 80 and are outstanding off road at 12,000 feet in a hail storm on a rocky climb (ask me how I know).

side note, I don’t really like how they look, but the D5 is supposed to be comparable if not better (though not better looking). Especially the diesel.

Defender seems to be the spiritual successor to the D4. Cargo area seems significantly smaller, however.

Yeah I agree. The Defender 130 has similar capacity to the LR4 but it's expensive and that back-end is worse than the Disco 5. Instead of extending the wheelbase (as in "130 inch wheelbase"), they just bolted on that extra foot of overhang - looks awful.

The Hummer H2 has air ride with a V8 and it isn't a Toyota/Lexus.

I'm dealing with the same issue, need to replace my LR4 but with what? I don't use mine for off roading. I'm considering the Nissan Armada '21 +. Thoughts?

If you don't need to offroad that opens up a lot of options for you. I'd probably look at the Range Rover or RRS since they have a supercharged V8. BMW has a turbo V8. The Durango RT has a V8 too and looks sharp asf.
