My LR4 dome light developed a squeak from years of jiggling. If I put my hand on it and pressed it up then the squeak would stop. After putting up with it for a while, I solved it with some foam earplugs. Meaning, I pulled the dome out and placed memory foam earplugs inside the dome on the corners, then pushed the dome back into place so the earplugs are hidden inside the dome. The constant pressure from the expansion of the foam stopped the squeak.

 

Good to know and congrats on the fix. I've also got a very light squeak that develops occasionally but didn't think to press or hold that area. I've thought it was something in the dash but no matter where I push/hold it didn't affect it. Will try the dome box next time.
