Default Fuel Filler Neck issue

I recently bought a 2012 LR4 from a friend. I knew ahead of time there was some kind of fuel issue. Apparently, the pump would stop automatically giving the impression of a full tank. But the gauge only registers 7/8 full. Slightly unclear if the gauge was misreading or if something else. I called the dealer and they jumped on it right away that it was a fuel filler neck issue. Something about it delaminating which doesn’t actually allow it to fill up all the way. I’m inclined to leave it alone because the gauge reads correctly. It just won’t fill up full.

Is this familiar to anyone?

I know the charcoal canister (part of the evap control system) can cause this issue if it gets liquid fuel in it. Usually happens when people top off the tank. Prevents the tank from venting properly when its filled up. Filler neck problems also can cause this issue, but I hadn’t heard of any particular problems with the filler neck on the LR4.

There is a current recall on the LR4 filler necks.

I know there is a current recall on the fuel tank flange (covers the pump/fuel filter assembly on the top side of the tank). Had not heard of one on the filler neck. Is there another recall on the neck?
