Jaguar 5.0 Compatible with LR4 5.0?
Hi all. New to the forum and new to Land Rover's. I appreciate the info I have already gleaned from this forum.
I recently purchased a clean 2010 LR4 5.0 from a guy that attempted to replace the head gaskets after it overheated (rear coolant crossover pipe failed). Upon reassembly, he also stripped the head bolt threads out of the block in several spots. My original plan was to purchase the NS300L insert kit and repair the block, put it back together and enjoy a sweet daily driver. However, after removing the heads I found a significant gash on the block where the head gasket needs to seal against. looks like a power tool was used to clean the block and it caused some serious damage. I've determined the block is unusable and I'm currently looking for a long block. My question, is the 2010-13 Jaguar 5.0 the same long block? I've done enough research to find that the oil sump, accessory mounting, and exhaust manifolds are different but can't get a solid answer about the long block. I would obviously swap all sensors, manifolds, throttle body ect from the LR4 to the used Jag engine to prevent any headache there. Has anyone had any experience doing this? The Jaguar variant of the 5.0 is FAR cheaper than purchasing a Land Rover/Range Rover engine used.
Thanks for the help
