Default Landrover Discovery 2014 - Rust at 1 week!!!

Hello All - I have recently took order of an LR4 2014 (Discovery) I didnt get a chance to give it the full once over due to a hurried pickup at the dealers but after getting it home (a 500mi trip) I have noticed the rust on the bottom as shown in the pic - is this a problem? superficial or more worrying?

What is the area called with the rust on it?

Thanks for any help!

This is natural on every vehicle made. Exhaust pipes unless stainless get messy looking since they are low to the ground and are exposed to the moisture inside and out. You see it on the Land Rover because they are farther off the ground than most vehicles. Don't be alarmed as it will get darker as you drive it.

Yup.

Don't get worried until the "black" areas in your photo start looking like the exhaust pipe.

I believe the exhaust system is stainless, no? Keep in mind it is called stainless, not stainfree steel. Even stainless steel will encounter surface rust.

To echo above - you are fine.

In all honesty, it shouldn't be offered by the dealership looking like that. If you look under the hood you can see/find a plate that tells you exactly what year it was manufactured and I guarantee it isn't 2014 more likely 2013 or even 2012. The problem is also they are stored in some swampy field for weeks even months before they are delivered or freighted to wherever. It's the sad truth about modern vehicles sold as NEW but in actuality can be 1-2 years old.

Mine says 2011 LR manufactured in November 2010 and delivered Jan 2011 as a 2011 LR. What swamp? Here is US we have concrete delivery ports and warehouses.
