Default LR4 Best year/Worst year

Seen a few LR3's and LR4's pop with decent prices. All I know (what little I do) is about D2's and Early Series. Seen a few post on LR3/4 differences and issues. Which model, year and type were the best/worst in your opinion(s)? My problem is that most rovers I do come across are cheap for a reason, but with a little TLC can cure SOME of the issues.

The 2010-2013 have the nice 5 Liter Jag v-8 which is a great engine. after that they went to a v6.

The body of a LR4 with the motor from a LR3 would be the perfect combo

The 4.4 Jag V8 used in the LR3 is a hands down far more reliable, bullet proof whatever term you like motor. The 5.0 is a bit delicate with some expensive common failures.

So as much as I love the interior of the LR4, I'll stay a bit more spartan on the features and wood work with the LR3.

Yep I agree the 5.0L is not as reliable as the 4.4L, it can be, but man when if you ignore those timing belt tensioners or you overheat it = $$$$$$

I don't mind the interior of the LR3 vs LR4. The LR3 dash cracking is a weak link for sure vs the LR4. I personally would have loved the interior of the RRS in the LR3, but I understand they went more rugged utilitarian with the LR3 vs the RRS. I'd grab an 06-09 RRS if I could, but my D2's suit me.

Thanks You, this is a big help. I am no where near getting a LR3/4 but kind of looking. There is a 2012 LR4 with160K on it near me.

Again, thank you and kudos.

An LR3 with the 4.2SC engine - that would be interesting. The space and flexibility of the LR3 and a little more power as even though the 4.4 has 300hp, it has to lug around a lot of weight. I like the interior of the LR4, but it has a little too much of a pavement princes look to the outside for me.

Biggest let down for me on the LR4 is when they got rid of the shift lever in the latter models and installed that weird dial shift **** thingy - I much prefer a lever, regardless of having flappy paddles on the steering wheel.

Part of me thinks you swap the supercharger parts in from a RRS and let the ecu do it's best.
