To be sure, it will need to be diagnosed, but best guess at this point is lighting switch has a bad dimmer.

Weigh the options of price of new switch, and cost of diagnosis.

The reason I asked about the high beams and turn signals is that they use the same ground as the dimmer switch, so if the ground was the issue, they would not function either.

But it would seem that the CJB is either not receiving the dimmer input, or is not sending it back out, or it is trying to, but cannot due to a short(dimmer is FET controlled, so a short will cause it to not apply voltage, similar in function to a circuit breaker)

so after last nite the dimmer switch is working..it will dim the dash and a few other things...it so strange that all the back lit buttons and door handle led lights are out..including the clock and around the shifter...do you think i should disconnect my battery and see if that will reset something in the computer???

A hard reset may take care of it, if it was an intermitent short to ground, that has now cleared up, and the FET stayed off for some reason.

There is no relay.

That is the FET doing exactly what it is supposed to. There is a short to ground in the system. Think of it as a blown fuse, that would blow again as soon as replaced, only with this system the'fuse replacement' is automatic.

Have you had any sort of work recently done to the vehicle, something where an interior part might have been removed and reinstalled?
