Default P0087 code

I bought a 2010 Lr4 that has a well documented history. the other day p0087 (fuel rail pressure too low) came up and restricted performance light. Looking through the history this code has came up before. In 12/16 both high pressure fuel pumps were replaced, 7/17 it went into the shop for the p0087 code and the timing chain guides, tensioners and high pressure sensor were replaced. 9/17 all injectors were replaced, crankshaft pulley replaced and it said the fuel pump chain was retimed. 10/18 Said that the vehicle went in for CEL but doesn’t say what the code was and the fuel pump chain jumped time and was re timed. I’m just wondered what I should look for with a jump in timing or if the pump or sensor could be bad. I have a IID tool and at 3000rpms the high pressure psi is a lot lower than normal. Any advice is really appreciated!

I replaced both high pressure fuel pumps and tappets with no change. Any suggestions?

I'm in the same situation. I replaced both pumps but I am still getting P0087. I am also getting P228F (Fuel Pressure Regulator 1 Exceeded Learning Limits - Too High)

I ended up bringing mine to a Indy. They checked timing and said that was good, now they are going to replace the high pressure sensor.

I have found that *usually* it's not a faulty sensor causing the low pressure codes. It is actual low pressure that the sensor is correctly measuring. The next thing I would check is the pressure coming from the pump in the tank. It should be in the 80-100 PSI range. If you also have a misfire code, it is likely a leaking injector on that cylinder that is causing the misfire and the low pressure code.

Mine ended up being the fuel pump camshaft was out of time. The FoMoCo print needs to be on the top when cylinder 1 is in TDC. It could be 180deg out and the timing tool will fit in there but it will produce low pressure.
