Default Sunroof drain

If I put flex tape all around my front t sunroof, would that stop the water pouring into my passenger side floor from being drenched? I never use any of my sunroofs. Landrover said my tube needs replacing for 2k.

hmmm, its not a difficult job. I think thats the price when they don’t want the job.
You’ll easily have it done in 1/2 day.

Just get a small pipe cleaner and unblock the pipes. I've needed to do mine several times, and they are only ever blocked at the top. Alternatively there are tools you can get on Aliexpress, ebay etc if you need to get further down the tube.

If they're pouring inside (just like mine are) wouldn't that indicate they are broken/disconnected? I can't believe a vehicle that's not even 10 years old has this many issues with water leaks! I'm more used to Toyota levels of reliability!

It's possible, but I think more likely to be blocked. If blocked, the water has nowhere to go, fills up, and overflows into the cabin. If they made the size of the drain larger, debris would probably just get washed down, but as it is, dirt just accumulates until they get blocked. Even if it was disconnected, it wouldn't be a major job to reconnect it onto the underside, above the roof lining near the top sides of the windscreen.

I'm asking because I genuinely don't know, but the drain is a tube right? If the drain hole is up by the sunroof, then wouldn't it overflow up there and not down by the kick panel? I have to imagine there's something physically broken or disconnected

Also, should the cowl not be tight against the windshield, water enters through the climate airbox, past the fan motor and into the passenger footwell.

This doesn't seem like the most well engineered vehicles in my fleet I have 20 year old vehicles with no water leaking inside and this thing has common leaks in about 3-4 different places!

Interesting...in another thread I've mentioned an intermittent leak on the right hand floor under the carpets, front to back, primarily when parked/stationary. The drain tubes appear functional. The door seals do not indicate any failure. I fitted a new cowl a few years ago (long before the leak began) as the original had warped a bit. The current cowl is not warped but neither cowl actually attach to the windshield with any sealant or adhesive. Could this lead to a solution to the mystery?
