Default Terrain response available intermittently

My 2016 LR4 terrain response seems to have a mind of its own..sometimes it's available and other times not. Worse when it's cold and wet outside, which leads me to think it is an electrical issue. When it does allow me to engage it works fine.

I do not have a gap tool so just looking to understand the possible causes b4 I take it to the dealer.

The first rule with failing electronic systems in most modern vehicles is confirm the state of the battery.

The main battery is fine, the secondary battery needs replacing but since I dislike the eco start/ stop.I am in no rush to replace it.

"fine" is not a technical description. Specifically, what is the voltage reading of the resting battery?

Yes, that certainly reflects "new". There are a lot of codes related to this. We need those codes.
