Tire Tread Depth
2012 LR4 HSE 150k miles
I had two newer tires in the back and some older ones in the front...pretty worn. Purchased two used tires with a requested variance of 4/32 to the newer back tires. Threw the used ones on the back.... took the back ones to the front.
Had an alignment done today and the indy Land Rover repair shop (dedicated to Rovers) said variance is 5/32....and recommended that I have 2 of the front tires replaced to match tread depths on the rear. I've heard anywhere from 2 - 6 was acceptable.
Kinda freaking me out. Will this really cause me tranny problems down the road. Or is it a nice to have?

don't cheap out on tires. aside from traction issues with worn tires and the dangers that can bring, with used tires you also run the risk of split sidewalls at speed that could pose a roll over risk. save up and get new tires.
old, used, unknown tires are not worth it.
