Unhappy Transmission wonkiness

Hi Everyone,

Just bought a 2013 LR4. PO did the timing chain guide service under warranty and then traded it in so i figured it was a safe buy. I have had it a couple weeks now and the transmission/shifter has been acting really sketchy. Live in Chicago, so there are cold starts every morning. Directly after a cold start with special programs off it is really jerky between 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd. If I let the vehicle warm up above the solid cold line on the temp gauge and turn on snow/gravel, it is less rough. Driving around normally with special programs off, the shift points from 1-2 and 2-3 are weird, It always seems like they are a little too late and a little jarring. With snow/gravel on the shifts are much, much smoother. If I shift using command shift, the shifts are smooth all the time. Any idea what may be causing this? Software, bad shifter, bad trans? The vehicle is under a 3 month engine and trans warranty supposedly from the car lot but I don't know how legit that is. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

2011 LR4 V8 50k miles: My transmission suddenly became jerky and hesitant. I was already looking into changing the trans oil and gaskets, it seemed to me that some pressure leak in the mechatronic valve body, assumption after assumption. I asked the dealership to reset the transmission adaptations (no other way to reset them) and it got worst. It seemed to me that the adaptations where helping.

How I fixed it? I changed the battery... Left the battery disconnected for maybe 10 minutes and like magic, my transmission is as smooth as new.

I'm again assuming that the TPS was out of calibration and/or the torque converter lock or something like that.

It worked for me and I don't see the harm in trying.

Otherwise, look into changing the seals and/or mechatronic valve body to your transmission. A very common maintenance job in this ZF transmissions.
