Default Windshield replacement?

Just hit a stone at speed on the freeway and created a 10inch crack in the front windshield. Insurance will cover it and we have a good local auto glass company. But - we have the 2010 LR4 HSE with heated front windshield. Anyone else had that replaced - and can they do so and retain functionality of the heated front screen?
Thanks!

They should be able to get the heated windshield, with no problem. They are about double the price, but insurance should cover it.

Any competent glass shop will replace the heated windshield and it will work. I have had heated windshields in 3 different vehicles replaced with no problem, even replaced another myself and no problems.

Where about do you live? Do you have a need for a heated windshield? If not you can always go the non heated route. Up here I replace the windshield every year or two. I went non heat this time and the clarity is outstanding. True I lose the heat capability but in reality it was only useful 1-2 times a year.

Default Windshield replacement?

We are up in the north east USA and found that we use the heated screen very often in the winter. It works really well
Our local auto glass company was able to replace it with the heated one fine. Although it's too warm to test if it is actually working until later in the year!

Thanks everyone for the advice!

Default auto glass repair denver

It's great that your insurance will cover the repair and that you have a local auto glass company to work with. When it comes to retaining the functionality of the heated front screen, it's important to work with an auto glass repair specialist who has experience with this feature.

If you're in the Denver area, you might consider contacting Dr Rock Chip<!--td {border: 1px solid #cccccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->https://www.coloradochip.com/ for their expertise in auto glass repair. They have experience working with a variety of vehicle makes and models, and can help ensure that your LR4's heated front windshield is properly installed and functioning after the repair. By using high-quality materials and following manufacturer specifications, they can ensure that your windshield is restored to its original condition, including the heated feature.

Make sure they replace the trim pieces on the A pillars too. Many reuse these with the original clips which will typically be damaged on removal so they may come off at speed.
