Great LOOKING 2004 Disco 2... but needs new engine
For Sale2004 Land Rover Discovery
Description:
Selling a 2004 Land Rover Discovery II SE7
Super clean, needs new engine
131,000 miles
Not sure what the car value is. I'm guessing there was $8,000-$10,000 spent recently in aftermarket parts, but needs a lot spent in engine parts and labor. I'll entertain serious offers.
Very clean disco on the outside, lots of aftermarket add-ons and funky features, but learned after buying that it probably needs a new engine. Previous owner put a ton of money in making it look good, didn’t do anything to help it drive or run well. I brought it to my local shop for a once-over after I bought it, he said the head gaskets and some suspension work need to be done, after removing the heads he things the cylinders have been hot and recommends an engine swap.
I actually drive a 2000 Disco with a strong engine, 205,000 miles, but the frame is fully rusted out. I was hoping to replace mine with a better one, but realized it was more work than I wanted to put in. If serious buyers are interested in buying both (good engine/bad exterior and bad engine/great exterior) let me know, I’ll entertain serious offers.
The good –
- I believe this is a new paint job
- Powder coated rims
- 5 New BFGoodrich tires
- New front bumper
- New rear bumper
- New winch
- New powder coated step for truck seats
- Bright trail light on the rear bumper
- Blue LED lights under dashboard and rear seats
- I believe the leather chairs are re-upholstered
- Headliner looks like it was Rhino lined or something
- Suede door trip
- Back up camera in rear bumper integrated in stereo monitor
- New stereo and sound system
- Touch screen, fold up display
- Apple play
- Microphone integrated for handsfree phone calls
- Sirius XM subscription
- Focal speakers with subwoofer
- At a minimum, the heads and gaskets need to be done
- Shop recommends it needs a new engine
- Shop recommends replace tie rod ends, ball joints, and alignment
- Rear drivers side door doesn’t open
- Car was re-keyed, doors don't auto-unlock
- Sun roofs don’t open
- Driver’s window doesn’t open
- Driver’s seat heater doesn’t work
- Dashboard cup holders/ash tray/ coin drawer don’t open with the new stereo add-on
I had the heads removed to do the top end work, after learning about the engine swap recommendation I left it all out. All engine parts are in the trunk.
