My partner really wanted a defender but she only drives automatic due to arthritis in her hands. I have seen adverts which will take a defender and change the gearbox. Are there any limitations on age or condition of donor vehicle please.

 

I think there were actually a few NAS Defenders sold in the US with V8 and Auto. They are probably quite difficult to find though.

 

the 1997 MY 90 NAS was the only import with automatic from the factory

that being said a good Landy shop can fit an LT230 automatic to a defender equipped with a 3.9 94/95 MY

not sure what they would fit in a ROW diesel engine model - but the LT230 might fit those as well
