Honestly, I believe the best immediate modification one can perform is removing factory running boards and performing bumper mod.

Why no more Land Cruiser?

Another good interior mod is the Ultra Gauge, which lets you (and the programmed alarm point) keep an eagle eye on coolant temp and other items. About $70. Pix submitted by a member with a D2.
Love the look of that gauge! Keeping an eye on the actual numbers can help spot an issue before something expensive breaks!

Replacing the front Muffler with a FlowMaster and removing the rear Muffler all together and running straight pipe out the back! Had it done for $110 and it sounds INCREDIBLE!!! =) They even made a mod if you want to have the pipe dump out the driver side lower rear quarter panel!

I've been dying to do that, but our muffler shop won't do it. He doesn't recommend it.

I'm going to have to check into this. How is the sound on the freeway?

Won't do what? Cut the resonator off or pipe it to the drivers side? You can cut the resonator off with a hacksaw or sawzall. Try taking it to an exhaust shop that ISN'T a major chain like Midas is. By me we have about a half dozen independent exhaust shops all called Velasquez or Rodriguez. They'll weld anything, they don't care as long as you have the scratch.

Yeah my guy said the resonator is only there for ommission control(aka State Regs). I had 2.5 pipe bent and run from the cats back to the flowmaster and then str8 back over the rear axle. In my opinion it sounds best on the Freeway at about 60-65mph in High Gear @ about 2,00-2,200rpm.... Its not over-welming at all. He wanted to run a 3.5" outlet to make it louder but I choose just the 2.5" because I didnt want that SUPER LOUD "Yeah it has a HUGE V8 under the hood" noise to it! In my opinion this is the way it should sound from the factory! BTW: I got the idea from this Video land rover discovery exhaust - YouTube

@tweakrover - how about a "how to" on the grill mod?
