This is to replace the stock Positive power cable from the battery to the Alternator to the Starter and stock Negative grounding cables (Frame and Alternator housing) with an 0 (1/0), 1 or 2 AWG cables. This upgrade allows for increased current flow and lower resistance due to the increased diameter of the cables. It's usually done for car stereo systems.
Its pretty common to replace the cables. Most people usually opt for finely stranded copper, though. You can get it fairly inexpensively from welding supply shops.
I went ahead and bought the TemCo hydraulic terminal crimper and a cable cutter kit #TH0006.
I'm now waiting on the red and black 2/0 AWG welding cable to do the mod.

I recently re-loomed the engine harness. The alternator actually runs to the fuse box. The starter cable goes to the battery. I decided to separate the big cables from the rest of the wiring harness so that changes could be easily done.
the stock cables are actually pretty beefy. Around 1/0 gauge.
Cant go wrong with bigger cables! Good call on the 2/0 welding cable.
Might look into installing another thicker stud on the frame for the negative mount if you go with eyelets. There's another ground cable with a built in nut, and its a really small nut. I don't like that its holding in such a thick cable. The contact area isn't very large.

Great idea on a bigger stud bolt.
I figure I'll drill out a bigger hole for the bolt, sand down the area to bare metal and use star washers to make for better grounding contact.
