Check my work...dual battery set up.
So I need a sanity check..I want to have a dual battery setup in my LR3 with the 2nd battery also being a removeable portable power station. I would be mounting in the cargo area.
I have a spare battery already but I want to use this power station box so I can use the 2nd battery portably as-well. Here are my thoughts to make this work..
Run 10awg wire with a 20amp fuse from start battery to a 20amp dc to dc charger then, useing the same wire and fuse as previously mentioned from the charger to an anderson plug. The power box has a built in anderson plug input. From there I would connect to the secondary battery, then off the secondary battery to a low voltage protection module and then to the accessory plugs the box has built in. I "think" this would allow me to be able to plug in the secondary battery.. "power station" ..and allow my alternator to charge it (maybe as a back up jump battery too?) And then also be able to remove the power station to use stand alone.
What are your guys thoughts with this set up? Am I missing anything? Am I crazy? Lol I'm not sure 10awg wire would be suitable for jump starting but that's not a big deal..more of a 2nd thought.
Thanks!
