Hi All, did anyone notice, Defender 2024 is showing a slight dark display when reverse during night. In order to improve the reverse lighting, luckily I had selected "tow hitch receiver" which I do not use it frequently. in such I want to add two LED lights. my plan is to attain the power from 12_pin trailer socket as attached picture. power the two LED lights by pin 2&3 so lighting can be enforced during reverse. please feel free to give your comments. well appreciated!
That's actually not a bad idea. Saves you from having to tap into the rear lights harness, which may or may freak out the HCM (or whatever is controlling the lights) into thinking there is a short, due to the increase draw.
If you tap into the trailer reverse lights, the module (again, not sure which module that is), will expect a draw on those circuits in reverse and not possibly freak out.
FYI, there are harnesses available that will allow you to plug into the trailer plug harness, so you really don't have to chop any wires up.
Hi Kazimi,
agree. Actually I do not want touch anything especially when I go to service I can easily recover the car to original status. Yes. Have to buy a harness anyway because some trailer may only have 7 pin other than 12 pin harness.
by the way, I just brought 12V LED bulbs, 3watt power each to improve lighting a little bit. Thanks
