diff. pegging and diff reassembly
so I had my 3rds out and took the front differential apart. so putting it back together, wondering....how much pressure is supposed to be on the gear. I didn't adjust the peg. I just slid the assembly to it before securing. should I do more? maybe tighten peg then back off X amount of turn?
Actually talked to him today (ordered a new front dshaft) I conveniently failed to mention that I disassembled the diff he built me because I thought it was broken.

I think so.
I will look. If i don't have a picture I can take one, as I still have the front diff out.
It is just a looks like a big huge bung with a nut and a big huge bolt with softer peg fitted, to the inside. Centered at about 7/16 - 3/8 of an inch from the edge of the back of the ring gear. I will get you a picture

here go. looks/feels like a soft material (bronze pad?) insert within peg, from bolt.
I know you are jelly of my 11gal pressurized gear oiler in the background.

so to recap.
1. get your backlash and preload correct, while putting it together.
2. set caps in place, snug locktited bolts
3. as per rave 66ftlbs on the 4 bolts, criss cross pattern. (I like to torque -10ftlbs, then -5 ftlbs, then final)
4. tighten peg to close encounter (like a whisper, not a yell.....just a hint of drag) with ring gear.
5. back the peg off 1/3 of a flat of bolt head. (this put me 100% back where I started)
a little goop, tighten 10 little bolts and vrum vrummm
