Default Gas tank skid?

Do we like steel or aluminum? Anyone poking holes in the aluminum?

Aluminum. No punctures in mine, just some scratches.

I have the Columbia Overland aluminum skid plate:

Columbia Overland Discovery 1, Range Rover Classic and Defender Aluminum Fuel Tank Skid plate

The fuel tank is well protected even though it is aluminum.

Got the skid, is there an easy way to hold up the gas tank without ruining some ratchet straps

Hmmmm, I think I used ratchet straps to keep the tank in placed while I "offered up" the gas tank skid. Once the skid is in place with a jack you can pull the loose end of the strap out. At least that's the theory, anyway.
