Default Need ideas for rear panel & bumper mod after blowout

I had a set of General Grabber AT-2s on my '99 Disco II until last week, when the driver-side rear blew on the interstate at 65 mph and destroyed my rear panel and bumper.

Instead of replacing the panel and bumper with stock parts, I'd like to do a mod that might save me some cash for other projects... any pics, links to other threads, or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I don't have any ideas, but I cannot believe that a blow out could inflict that much damage.

That's unreal.

The tread released completely from the rest of the tire except in one spot... the loose tread beating against the wheel well felt and sounded like someone taking a 2x4 to the side of my Disco. I was in the left lane of I-65 and was able to make it to the shoulder, but those few extra seconds it took to get there is probably what did it.

looks like your going to need a quarter, I have not seen any wrap around bumpers that would require that much trimming.

For f*ck's sake dude. I had large M/T tires and one of them coming apart at 70 mph didn't even do that much damage.

RockStar Fab bumpers require quite a bit of trimming.

I like that RockStar bumper.

A buddy of mine mentioned cutting off the damaged part of the quarter panel and installing a step for added access to the roof rack... never seen this before, but it's another option.

Thanks for the advice so far... keep it coming.

Here is one installed on my buddy's D2. Though I think he trimmed about 1/2" too much.

Do a search for "Bobbed Land Rovers" yours would be a good starting point for a Bob Job.

Did you get any money from insurance?

There are always parts trucks available fairly cheaply.

Use your imagination, lots of possibiities exist.
