Default Performance Chips

Is anyone familiar with any reputable, reliable, safe and moderately priced performance chips for an 04 Range Rover HSE?

Why do you need more power, are you willing to gain extra power at a loss of mileage?

Maybe im misinformed but I thought this chips also help improve gas mileage. Is that not the case?

For the near $500 you pay to have the ECU re-chipped, you can buy a lot of gas.
The main things most chips will do is allow you to get a little more power, but it will cost you in gas.
What gad octane are you using, when was it last changed and were new plug wires installed, what air pressure are you running?
Remember these are not performance vehicle, just big, somewhat heavy and top heavy Rovers.

Power chip group asks you what areas of your car do you want to improve( Mileage, speed, hp, and so on). In my case I told them to program my ECU for maximum performance, so I am at the gas pump more often. I knew that my car was not built for street performance and I knew that if I wanted to chip my car for performance I would be at the gas pump more often and I was comfortable with that (because I don’t drive my truck very much).. I got it chipped for the minor increase in the HP. Even though the extra HP wasnt gonna help me do anything that I could do already with the stock HP. You can say I am little crazy. Don’t expect the chip to make dramatic differences but it will improve the drive a little more then before and give you some extra HP. I don’t know how the chip would do if you told power chip to program your ECU to be more efficient because mine was programmed for performance. I am pretty sure that it will improve mileage but you have to decide whether or not its worth the $500 bucks. Not many people are comfortable with this idea because they may not be able to afford to pump gas as much ( I barley drive my car so this issue didn’t factor in my decision). Also what Disco Mike asked you in the post above about your plugs wires and maintenance plays a big factor. For example I bought my 04 Disco 2 years ago and all I did was basic maintenance (Oil changes & air filters). Not to long ago I decided that it was time for a tune up and I did everything in Disco Mikes 60k Maintenance but for your vehicle and felt dramatic changes in the drive. I mean it really improved from how it drove before. I suggest you do Disco Mikes 60K Service but for your vehicle before you get it chipped. This way you will be able to feel the difference in the drive before and after the tune up. If you are still not happy with the difference and want to take the extra step and chip it hoping it will satisfy your driving preference when it comes to the vehicle performance call power chip and talk to them. let them know you are skeptical about getting your ECU chipped and tell them your reasons. Ask them if you get your ECU chipped with them and are not happy with the results what is there refund policy. ( I think they will give you all your money back if you are not happy with changes ,but ask them just to make sure) It doesn’t hurt to try if they say yes and are willing to spend the time removing your ECU, mailing it to them, wait for it to come back which is about 2 to 3 days, then putting back in, and the finally driving it to see if you are happy with it or not. It doesn’t hurt to try or ask if you are willing to be patient. It is very important to keep in mind that your rover is an older model and was not built to be a dragster . or to perform like the new supercharged rovers. Disco mike is absolutely correct when he said Remember these are not performance vehicles, just big, somewhat heavy. If this is not the reason why you want to get it chipped and are curious what the chip can do then try what I said

its how performance chips work, where else would it get its resource for the extra power but from your gas, thus affecting your gas mileage.
