Default Roof antenna delete mod

If you are interested in deleting the ugly antenna wart on top of your LR, I just did it and it was pretty easy. It's only attached with some permanent sticky tape, it pries off pretty easily. There are two wires which I just snipped, although after prying off the rear interior overhead panel there only seems to be one wire going through a rubber plug to the antenna, so I don't know why there are two wires on the antenna assembly. I was surprised that the GPS still works, the GPS antenna must be somewhere else, or maybe it is inside the small rubber puck that remains attached to the roof. I never ever listen to the radio so I don't need a radio antenna. This did not trigger any sort of fault or warning messages and it looks much better without that big ugly bump on the roof.

I had the local car wash do that mod for me. It's the Sirius/XM antenna, does give a fault if you readi ti off the GAP tool but no problem other.

Hey, good move getting rid of that antenna!I did it myself a few months ago, 'cause that "wart" on the roof was driving me nuts. Those two wires are probably for radio and signal boosterbut if GPS works.it must be somewhere else Good luck!
PS: Just be careful, when removing the glue not to scratch the paint I used a hairdryer to warm, it up a bit and it came off easier. 🙂

Can I confirm with you folks that doing this doesn't ruin GPS? And/or that there's not any additional "mod work" that would need done to seal up any ingress points if removing the antenna? I 100% do not use XM radio whatsoever so if I can get rid of this monstrosity then I'm ready to do it!

Cheers!
