I did have my new Y-pipe on for the last few tanks with new O'2 sensors and my mileage has not changed.

I feel that I need less of a push on the go pedal for the go power.

I guess I will have to clean the grease off from where I keep the front drive line greased more often.

 

I went out of town ,,,everything went good nice power for passing.

Mileage is the same as the PowerChip and OEM Land Rover with ethanol so Ethanol is BAD.

14.5 mpg with all.

 

How much power did you gain? Take the disco to the Dyno. I have been wanting the powerchip.. or RPI (too expensive). Since my rover is pretty much a trail rig, some weekend driving, I don't care about mpg. Just power.

 

I never Dyno it before the RPi or the Powerchip so the Hp numbers would not mean a lot.
Mileage has been the easiest way to track the changes and the first thing people want to know.
Driveability is better with both "Chips".

With a trail rig I would change the Diff gears that woud give you more than a stand alone chip would.

As I am more of a OverLander I wanted to keep my stock gears and increase the out put of the motor.
The Powerchip was a first step,,after playing with it for a year ao so I wanted more ,,cam lifters some
motor work, the stock ECU and the Powerchip would not have worked and would have gone in to limp
mode. To get everything work I had to get RPi re-mapping done.
The Rpi ECU setup will learn, I knew that I could get the ECU redone and then take my time with
the motor and once it is done everything will work together.

If you still want a Chip I think that for the money the Powerchip is hard to beat BUT if you live in a
area with Ethanol I would not get it.
At the time we had no ethanol where I live and when Powerchip called to find the setup of my
Disco that was not a issue,,talk to them and see if they can over come the ethanol if you have to
put up with it,, if not don't buy.

Update:
Last week I had a trip for the first time that was more that 400 hundred miles.
The trip was 1300 miles so it was a good test for the
Re-mapping RPi set up,so here it is.

All fuel was high octane.
My set up is 245/75/16 BFG/AT's,,ARB-winch. Snorkel.

The speed of 65 mph to 68 mph gave 15 mpg to 15.5 mpg.
Speeds from 70 mph to 75 gave 14.5 to 14.7 mpg.

I did test top speed,,I built up to it to see how it would work.
My first run was up to 95mph.
2nd run was to 99 mph.
3rd run was to 101 mph.
Last run was to top end 168 kph that was as fast
as it would run (105 mph) had to read that twice I bet.

With the high speed testing my mileage was 14.7 mpg.

So from what I have found with RPi re-mapping and the PowerChip.

1. If you will build a performance motor or going to (like I'm in the process)
then you will need the RPi re-mapping from the UK. the exchange rate is
much better now 1.49 USD to 1.0 GBP it was 1.98 USD to 1.0 GBP
when I got it done.

2. If you will never do any motor changes ( heads,,cam,,Intake )
and NEVER WILL RUN ETHANOL the PowerChip is the is the
WINNER.

THE POWERCHIP gives as much power as the RPi-remapping (from what I can tell)
But the POWERCHIP gives better mileage. (YOU WILL HAVE TO ALWAYS USE HIGH OCTANE)

IF YOU HAVE TO RUN THE dreaded ethanol then the PRi is your only way that I have
found.
Then with the Rpi set up you can change your motor later and the RPI-remapping will relearn
and take avantage of the set up (larger cam ect.)

STOCK:// POWERCHIP ( NO ETHANOL )
MODIFIED:// RPI-REMAPPING ( ANY FUEL)

I hope this helps the Gear Heads like me out there.
Its nice to keep up with the 240 hp V6's out there.

 

WEll gents... lots of writings... We've been selling RPI chips for some time, and have one in our very HOT D90; 4.7L that goes like a house on fire, can still run like a tractor in low-range bottom gear, yet still do 12 to 15 mpg!

Well for the past Month I have driven my Disco everyday,, this is not normal I try to save it for camping and offroad.
I twisted ankle so it being a auto and my car is a manual I have put about 2500 miles on it this month. (nice to have a company credit card to pay for fuel)
I have found that the more I drive the Disco the faster it feels.
ECM re-mapping learning more? Or am I just blowing the crap out,,could be a little of both but I have not changed my driving style.

Change of Job did put on hold my motor for a few more months but as I have more to add I will.

 

Disco's have never been built for speed, the suspensions won't handle it, the tranny and diffs won't handle the power.
It's not a sport car, save your money for maintance.
