I had been waiting my whole life to have a winch and that much negativity was too much. I also knew nothing about LR or off-roading back then. Kinda makes me laugh to myself that I got that bent out of shape about words in a forum.
Vodka was possibly involved at some point as well...

Lots of those guys I still talk to now about LR issues and The SNHLR club took me in and really taught me a lot.

I get the toys thing, bit of an electronics wizard. Just repaired an old AOC 17" flat panel (TFT LCD) that we were throwing away at work. One blown cap (25V 150uF 105C*) on the inverter. I desoldered one out of an old clock radio. Free working monitor I can use with my 2006 Mac Powerbook which was free too. I keep the Rave on it.

I did a 50 inch Visio from a pawn shop for 100 bucks with 4 bads caps. I think I watched videos on Youtube for like a month before I got the nerve to try to replace them...That is not my area of expertise in IT. It was fun and still working today. That a good idea to have a dedicated laptop for the rave manual....might have to do that...I ordered the Regulator and the temp sensor...thanks for your help...

Yeah I rebuilt the TV at dads house for him, btw the hf winches are fine, I have maxed mine several times with my rover stuck in water over the headlights, recovered a rover of the edge of a cliff using a ****** block to run around the other 2 trucks that had winch bumpers and no winch and used it as a tag line so we would not flip over, slow loud but works perfect,I have an older model same size and I have dead pulled my backhoe onto the trailer with it, so the price is right and quality has been fine for me so far

Snorkel placement ugly as sin but to each his own

It's been there for 5 years and about 125,000 miles. I guess with all the video feeds and just being used to it, I don't even notice it anymore..

If my snorkel was that low I would drown my engine, there is a reason its supposed to be at roof level, just sayin

Your a way bigger off-roader than I am. I can tell just by your posting about the winch. If I ever get in that much water, it's because I fell asleep at the wheel and went off a bridge.

The main use for me is getting on and off the boat when I am not at a port/dock. I have some long ramp extensions but, there times when because of the shoreline, I can't get the perfect angle and I end up in a couple of feet or so of water.
