t-case upgrade?

cheapest is a mercedes 0m617. i can get a used motor complete for under 300 with a 1 year warrenty

The LT230 is probably the best thing about a land rover.

Nothing "upgraded" about a jeep transfercase.

IF you really want 2WD this would be the way to go.

LT 230 Part Time 2wd fulltime 4wd adapter

I may be looking at this wrong but I just don't see the advantage in this "upgrade". Everything is still spinning up front so what's the point? I have put +3k miles on my 99 with the tcase locked and no front driveshaft without a bit of change in gas mileage.

Am I missing something? The only time I've read of someone improving mpg by switching to 2wd was I think Externet's post, but he had to remove everything in the front axle.

I not just trying to argue about this though. I use my D2 as my DD and drive it on average close to 1k miles a month so I would love to be proved wrong, and maybe get 1-2 more mpg's.
