VM2.5 To V8

Default VM2.5 To V8

Hi Guyz

I was wondering if anyone can help me out

I recently bought a 3 door 1990 RRC with a 2.5VM engine and want to convert it to a v8. Ive got two a 3.9 long block and a whole p38 as a donor car.

I know the RRC has an LT77 what would i need, forget the electronics ECU wiring etc, to get the v8 fitted in.

You will want to source a V8 LT77 as i think the VM input shaft is the long version and wont work with the V8, plus you want the V8 bell housing.
Apart from the motor the P38 is pretty much useless to your conversion.

Actually I talked to Ashcroft today regarding the transplant and they claim that the VM and V8 shafts are the same I only need the bell housing. The only thing I need clarity on is if the transmission is in the same place as the v8 so I wouldn't need prop shafts.

I know the p38 will be useless just preferred the thor engine to avoid Lucas nightmare I've had before in my defender, I bought the car for what I would have paid for an engine.
