Anyone considered swapping a ZF 6HP26 from a Disco III onto a II? Did you figure out if they're compatible mountings? I figure it could improve mileage a good 8% or so due to the 6-speed and the fact it is rated for 442ft/lb vs 280ft/lb of the ZF 4HP22 currently in the II. May even gain some of the 20hp the older torque converter eats up. The other option would be to fit the R380 5-speed which will handle 380ft/lb.

 

How would you deal with the ECU? The idea is great but I don't think it will fly.

 

Not sure yet, I figure there must be a compatible controller out there but will need to look into it some more.
