Default 2023 Disco V vs 2022 Lexus LX600

I am deciding between these two options. I feel that the new LX600 is very similar size and for similar options about the same price. I know it competes more with RR full size. But that is a bit more $$. What is everyone’s thoughts?

I didn't see that the LX has a low range or air suspension.
And those fuel economy numbers are pretty low.
Towing capacity is lower than the D5 too if that's important to you.
Turning circle is good and ability to get it with just 2 rows is nice.
They don't even post the minimum ground clearance - I don't think it's an off road vehicle, at least not in the same class as the D5.
Don't buy the optional 21 inch wheels if you want to have all terrain tire choices in the future.

you may have been looking at the LX570 numbers? It is based of the new Toyota Land Cruiser which is certainly known as one of the best off road vehicles. It does have air suspension that can be raised - not sure what the maximum is as those numbers haven’t been released yet. Also towing capacity is over 8,000lbs. And the fuel economy on the new 3.5 twin turbo engine is actually better than the disco 6 cyl. I guess the question I was asking from a prestige level which is considered higher. Lx600 or disco V? I believe from a off road / towing / fuel economy / options is very very close to the disco.

You are correct. Sorry. I didn’t see anything on the 2022.

I think you may have answered yourself already ... if size matters, then the LX600 is your candidate.
Best of luck.

Size wise it is very close. LX600 is 2.5 inch longer and actually a little bit narrower than D5. So, size wise it's not that different. I guess the question is if a Lexus is worth the 100K price tag compared to the disco? All the comparisons I've seen online is with the full size RR, but I don't think it's a good comp. RR base price is significantly higher. (and RR is better looking/better options in my opinion) also RR clearly has the stature. Just wanted to get a feeling for how LR Disco crowd looks at an LX.

If you want it for off road, probably the Discovery is the way to go.
Lexus builds a quality product, but I haven't owned one since 2013.
I do remember that the LR3 I owned at the time was built a lot more solidly from hinges to suspension.
For instance, the thickness of the steel in the door hinges was twice as thick on the LR.
Suspension components were much heavier in the LR.
The Lexus had Toyota reliability but my D5 has had just minor issues (windshield, In Touch).
And Toyota is not always trouble free - had a head gasket under recal on my new 4Runner years ago.
130K miles on my LR3 had only a front A arm bushing worn out and a problem with the electric parking brake at the end.

Both fine vehicles. For brevity, and my experience only guessing the LX600 will be bombproof, step rail aside, more 4WD ability than you'll need. However to my eye, it looks ghastly. And they're omitting the top of the line hybrid V6T which you'll be able to get in a Tundra at 1/2 the price. And probably soon they'll stuff into a new Sequoia at 2/3 the price.

This is as someone that's upto 3 Landy's and a Sequoia who's pastime is killing SUVs with the PNW lifestyle. On that, over 6 years, 180K KM, Sequoia in the shop for regular service only. 3 Landy's, 6 years, <120k KM, 6 weeks unscheduled shop time.

Enjoy the process!

Thanks for the reply - I will say the looks are subjective on the LX600, some hate it, some like it. I do like it. I think I will lean more towards the Lexus just for reliability sake. Also re-sale is probably higher down the road. Thanks everyone for their opinion.
