Default 380 watt meridian system

The CPO I bought gas the 380 watt system. What’s it like? I’ve always been kind of an audiophile and my last two vehicles I upgraded the audio in. My Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland I replaced every speaker but in my 2017 Sierra I just added a pair of subs under the back seat and honestly it really balanced the system out great. When it’s the weekend I’m driving a few hours a lot of times and like to jam with Spotify. So how is this 380watt system? Clear and effective or flat and going to need some tuning/work done?

I just picked up an HSE yesterday with the 380 watt system. I really wish it had the higher end sound system in it. Bass respond is good (but perhaps a little muddy) and there is not a ton of separation. However, I deemed it 'good enough' for me. One thing that I will miss is having speakers in the cargo area for tailgating (my 4Runner had that) as the 380 watt system only has speakers as far back as the 2nd row doors.

I'm not sure if adding a subwoofer will help - maybe better speakers in the doors? There is no center speaker in the dash (although I'm not a huge fan of those).

No sub?!? The only problem I had with my last rig was finding someone that knew how to actually enhance it. I wouldn’t mind getting a list of what speakers there are and replacing them then adding a sub in the back. I don’t know if they have styized enclosures for a Disco to put a low profile 10” in or not. It’s never really been about loudness but the clarity and quality. My infinity kappa setup was incredible. Hmmmmm

There is definitely a sub in the cargo area - I meant that I don’t think the sub needs to be augmented or replaced. I would spend efforts trying to make the front speakers more clear.

Remember seeing a post indicating that the middle speaker is missing in the front dash. Adding that can help the clarity in the front.

is there an actual location for it? That’s like a $40 speaker that can change a lot depending on the digital eq. It needs its own channel to focus on vocals.

It is supposed to be under the mesh cover on top of the front dash. In the 380W system, that is just a cover with no speaker in it...

so would it be possible to add a center speaker - or would it require its own amplifier, etc, making the job much more complex?

Powering a speaker is pretty easy. amp or not for that it wouldn't require much. The signal processing is the big issue here. There's a big wattage jump between the systems so I am inclined to think there's different signal processors as well. It'd probably cost a lot to gut that from the system. It'd be like adding a middle speaker to a 2 channel system. There's going to be kind of a blah effect. Need to find out if it has the ability to run signal to that speaker. If it does then you're in business.

Default Rear subwoofer port open to atmosphere?

Hey, I have a 2019 Disco V. I located the subwoofer in the rear flooring compartment. I tapped into the wires to relay as inputs for an aftermarket subwoofer. I noticed the stock subwoofer port faces down and out a hole to the atmosphere. I could literally reach through it and touch my spare tire. Is this normal? How would the vehicle wade in water and it not enter the compartment? I looked online to see if there is supposed to be a rubber seal that dropped out. The dealer has no clue of this is normal. He said he would have to open it up and “put eyes on it”. It’s not an issue now, but I’m hesitant to off road and certainly wade in any water. I just wanted to see if you noticed the same thing on your Disco V.
