Default Aftermarket side steps and roof rack for Discovery 5

I am looking to install a pair of running boards and a roof rack system for my 2018 Discovery HSE Luxury. These are the factory ones which I found on the Land Rover website -

Side Steps ($1,300)
Roof Rack ($1,821.28)
Roof Rack with Kit ($2,186.04)

With the factory ones, I am looking at close to $3,300 for the entire setup even if I do the installation myself.

I found an aftermarket sidestep and a roof rack system for Discovery 5 which I like a lot and planning to install them instead of the factory ones -

Romik® - 5.5" REC Series Black Running Boards - $625.00
Roof Rack System - Rhine-Rack PIONEER SX PLATFORM - $1,159.00

With the above 2, I can get the entire setup done well below $2000. On top of that, Rhino-Rack also sells quite a few accessories with the Pioneer roof rack systems which I can use. e.g.
DOUBLE HORIZONTAL JERRY CAN HOLDER

Does anybody have any experience with these or aftermarket racks and sidesteps in general? Is it a good idea to stick to the factory ones or is it safe to go with an aftermarket option?

Default Yup

I found thru here a set of running boards on ebay for under 400.00. They are almost identical to factory and have held up well.
Search around, I think the thread was 1/18 or so....

Rhino-rack makes top shelf products for the Rovers.

There is a set of running boards that looks almost identical to the Land Rover ones, they just don’t have “Discovery” embossed in the rubber which makes me wonder if they came from the same factory or at least are good copies. Not sure who sells them in the US though....

I would consider some Lucky8 Rock sliders over the running boards.

More functional.

Also, the new ARB Base rack system looks pretty slick. Haven't seen any pricing, but it looks very well thought out with loads of accessories.
