Does anyone has the procedure to remove the front bumper of the D5?

Planning to this week to install a winch. The lucky8 guys are working on instructions. You have to remove the grill then fender wells. You will need a pop tool on the fender wells. Then a Phillips screw at the top to remove for the fender to come off then you can fully remove the front bumper. They have some pics on their site of the bumper removed on a lift.

Please share the instructions and the results! I'm planning to do this in the next six months!

Here it is. You can also see the front light mounts in the pic. It was quite a procedure apparently. Too much of an undertaking for myself so I had a local shop do it. This was on the TD6 and required a bit of modifications.

That looks crazy invasive! I was hoping to do this myself. I’m not certain I’m that good. Mine is a Td6, too. What mods were needed?

How is having the winch directly in front of the radiator a good thing? It looks like it could almost be touching it. Only observing from the photos above.

It is very close but not touching, about an inch.

There was shimming of the tray, a different hole in the tray needed to be drill pressed, and the bumper needs to be cut into. The TD6 has piping where the gas version does not causing issues with the front passenger brake cooling vent. It is a difficult process and not one I was comfortable undertaking myself.

Are you installing the tray and winch too?

I’m thinking about. I was good with the mods you mentioned until you said the bumper needs cutting. Not sure if I want to do that now. I might reach out to a local shop and see if they’re up for it. It’ll be six months from now if I do.

I did forget there was some trimming of the bottom front bumper (plastic non painted area) to fit the fairlead. I will try to get some pics today, was waiting until my replacement hook came in, right now it looks a bit funky with the stock Warn hook.

Knowing what I know now I would be hesitant to to do it. If I hadn't had this local shop willing to do it I would have been **** out of luck. No way would I have started cutting things up and be able to drill press the mount and know what all the piping did. That said, I believe the guy that did my install spoke with Justin from Lucky8 quite a bit and there might be a modified version that will be released for the TD6. Apparently mine was the first TD6 to have it installed, which was news to me, so there was a bit of unintended piping that caused the retrofitting. I was already a bit in cost wise for the winch + mount so I wasn't turning back.

It would be great to get one for the Td6 if it needs mods. Maybe they'll have one by the time I go to get mine. Thanks for being the guinea pig!
