32 inch diameter is about the max that will fit. Certainly that is also the max size spare that will fit.
To calculate your tire diameter multiply the aspect ratio by 2 and then the result by the width. Divide by 25.4 (which is mm per inch) and add to wheel (rim) diameter.
For 275/55R20 it would be:
0.55 aspect ratio times 2 = 1.1
1.1 times 275 width = 302.5 mm
302.5 divided by 25.4 = 11.9 inches
11.9 inches plus 20 inch wheel size = 31.9 inches = tire diameter.
Factory tires are about 31 inch diameter. Lots of us are running 32 inch diameter tires.
Lucky 8 said they've run 33 inchers but I doubt they got a 33 inch spare to fit underneath.
These calculations are slightly approximate as individual tire brands/models can vary a bit.
There are 2 places oversize tires can rub - one, the tire can rub the wheel well, two the inside of the tire can rub the knuckle which is a front suspension component that cannot be moved.
You would have to mount the tire and look at the inside sidewall and see how much clearance you have between the rubber and the suspension.

With no modifications to the fender... 32 inches is what I have read and been told by multiple parties. If you want to start cutting plastic and/or metal you can opt for a larger tires, however keep in mind if they are wider you run into other issues unless you get wheel spacers.
I just bought an extra set of used LR rims and a set of Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT 275/55/20 and love them... 32 inch diameter and no rubbing with1.5 inch lift rods (I think they will fit with a 1 inch rod too). I kept my OEM tires as daily drivers.
