Post Display goes black when trying to start, engine does not start

Hello everyone

I have a Landrover Discovery 5 model year 2018 L462 3.0TDV6. I have installed a new battery, learned and reset the battery control unit, brake pressure sensor new. When I try to start the vehicle. Start/stop button pressed, wait until everything has started up, then I press the brake and press the start/stop button and everything goes off afterwards.

I'm getting desperate as I don't know where the fault could be. Could you suggest any valuable tips or solutions?

Sad ... another try ... put a batterie charger (or power cables from another car batterie) on the power input in the front engine power point (the small box with a + sign) and ground .

this has enabled power on the dashboard for me, I don't know why

good luck

mine isn’t a diesel but I only press start/stop once to start it. Open door. Foot on brake. Press start. You said you push it once. Step on brake. Push it again. Seems like that second push would turn off the accessory mode.

Unfortunately I had the same happen to me last week. The latest solution provided by the mechanic is to replace the Body Control Module, ECM, a bunch of other 'computers' in some sort of assembly plus replacement keys and reprogramming...all adding up to a very large bill. I'm trying to get a second opinion but it isn't looking good. I haven't been to the dealership yet because they charge like wounded bulls but I may have to get my 2nd opinion there.

I hope you have more luck.

So I open the door, everything starts up, display is on, says press brake pedal and start. I try that, step on the brake and then press the start button, then everything shuts down, black. I try again, exactly the same.

That sounds exactly like the problem I have. Fortunately, I have warranty insurance, so it's possible that part of it is covered. I'll have to call them now and ask what's going on. Got it at the Landrover garage, but they're not the quickest.

Hopefully they cover it...it's going to cost me a few bucks...

Good luck!

Hey Andy, I may have solved the problem. The diagnostic unit always said TCU Telematics Control Unit. This is responsible between navigation, conclusions and main control unit. The communication is apparently disturbed due to the defective TCU. Sometimes you could start and sometimes not. I am now waiting for the TCU and if it works properly, I will write again.

The damage in Switzerland is CHF 2500, I think in the surrounding countries it will be between 40-60% cheaper. The prices here in Switzerland are so exorbitant that you have to import everything.

Thanks, yes the parts that have been ordered for me are roughly that cost.

Good to know the cause tho...I have a language barrier blocking my understanding with my mechanic!
