Default Electronic Air Suspension vs. basic Coil Suspension

I'm considering a 2019 (or possibly 2020 depending on timing) a Discovery with the Diesel engine. I want the 5 passenger configuration (so may have to order it), so the Electronic Air Suspension would be optional (either alone or as part of an Option package).

I'm not looking to load this vehicle up with Options, so it may well be that I end up with a configuration that does not have the Electronic Air Suspension, and just has the standard Coil Suspension.

My primary uses are going to be general driving around town and highway driving (80%) and towing a trailer (20%). I will be doing very little rough off-road driving, just some driving on gravel and dirt roads to get to my fishing spots!

Any insights on the pros/cons of foregoing the Electronic Air Suspension system for me (as I've described my use for the Discovery)?

Thank you.

Cheers,

I have the exact vehicle you are describing, Td6, 5 Pax, capability package and air suspension - get the air suspension - you will love it. Also, you will have to order the 5 pax, mine is the only one I have ever seen and dealers will not order them in advance in that configuration. I also posted the pictures for you.

I agree, I drove both and the air suspension was a much better ride and overall feel. I may not have bought the D-5 if they didn't have the air ride...

The air suspension was definitely one of the main features that sold me on the D5, makes it easier to carry weight without a sagging *** offroad or when towing. Also nice to have it kneel when my wife and kids use it daily, and tge ability to lift her skirt when going into deeper or rougher stuff.

I didn't realize how good it was until I owned it - now it is a must have. Considering modifying my next sports car - great to have the lower stance, then lift up for speed bumps or parking lot entrances for daily driving.

Agreed, 4 corner air is perceived as "an offroad thing" which it is but I have found over the years that there are as many on road reasons to love it.
