Default Engine Shakes and Check Engine Light On

We have an almost 1 year old D5 HSE Si6 and today as I pulled up to reverse into my driveway the engine light came on and the engine started to shake to the point that the seats felt like a deep-massage chair.

Anyone else face the same issue? Searching around I see it can be a number of issues but I didn’t find anything particular to the D5.

Right now it’s parked in the driveway but I will take it to the dealer later. I will follow up with what they say.

Edit: Since the engine light is flashing they said to have it towed in. The dealer is 3 miles away so I was tempted to drive it there, but I don’t want to be in a situation where they say I caused more damage by driving it there.

Tow it... sounds like a cylinder misfire... it's under warranty right? I do repairs for a living and I'd still have it towed... i wouldn't even bother lulling the code myself unless I didn't trust my dealer.

Yup, still under warranty. I was in and out of the dealer pretty quick. They estimated they will contact me next week since they are backed up. No more loaners left at the Seattle location so I was sent to Enterprise and given a hulking Infinity QX80.

Thanks for the input into the cylinder misfire. I guess I am optimistic since the second time I turned it on it shook less violently...the engine light came on, but at least it stopped blinking.

Good grief one week for a misfire? They need more techs... it could be minor or major issue but likely minor.
How is the qx80? When we were 3 row shopping I pulled on the door handle, didn't like the way it felt, and left. That told me enough... so I never drove it. So I never gave it a fair review. What do you think of it?

That’s funny. That was also my first impression, opening the door felt more like my Mazda than the heft of the Disco doors. The Infinity has more features inside than the Disco but without the high quality feel. Lower grade plastic and thin leather seats. Small brakes for such a large suv but the interior is huge. Not a bad alternative for a minivan, but not for the unmaintained mountain paths of the PNW.

Regarding the wait to hear back, that seems to be the norm here. When I had my hitch installed late in the spring they mentioned limited workspace for techs due to WA Covid restrictions. Don’t know how much of that is true but scheduled service wait times are longer than a month.

Shook pretty bad and the check engine light flashed while accelerating. At least it was only 3 miles home

Sounds like what I am doing experiencing. At least we both got lucky and were near home. I was in the Cascades a couple days before my issue.

I will keep the codes in mind when I chat with the service guys when mine gets checked out this week.

Quick update. I called today and was told my Disco has misfires on cylinders 4 & 6. But the shop thinks there is a deeper issue and is waiting for a reply from another tech team that’s located on the east coast(?).

Anyways, I have been driving a full sized RR loaner since the weekend and I have to report that I prefer the Disco with more places to put my arm and more buttons instead of going through the touch screen. It’s been annoying to go through the screen to turn off the auto stop/start, fan speed, circulation etc..

However, my wife likes that there are actual door lock buttons in the rear. I still can’t figure out why the Disco doesn’t have any.

Mine is still in the shop. They said they found the misfire and I think they are gonna try and replace the ignition coil.

At least you got a loaner. My dealer said they had nothing for me. It’s been there since Monday Morning.
This is not new either because of COVID. That happen before COVID.

I am curious to see how this turns out.

This D5 is like that girl in college I dated who was amazing! She keeps braking my heart but I can’t seem to let her go.
I’m close though.
