Default External lighting references/experience?

I’m curious about getting some external/overland lighting on my 2020 Disco 5. I have the FrontRunner Slimline II. I’m curious about things like power source. Anyone with solar experience? Do I need to consider a second battery? If so where does it go? I have a third row so I can’t rely on the cargo area for battery storage. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Just discovered this from British Atlantic. Curious if it would work on the Disco 5. Presumably it would?

Looks like the 65watt for the D1 or D2 would fit. There are no dimensions as far as I could tell.

keep us updated on your install

Hi -

That Casacadia 4x4 solar panel has windshield washer jet cutouts specific to the jets placement on the LR3 & LR4 hood.

I don't think those are the same placement on D5?

There are no washer jets installed on the hood. There are in the windshield gutter.

@AtlanticBritish

Will you measure the width( fender direction) and the length of the panel for us?

I will measure my D5 hood this afternoon. I'm not worried about the washer cut outs being there .

thanks

I measured my hood/bonnet. 38" wide easily fit..... 32"+ length.

@AtlanticBritish did you get the measurements for the Casacadia 4x4 solar panel?

Hi -

There are a number of issues here and it's not just L X W dimensions on the hood.
  • The panel will only fit on flat section of hood. If the hood has a rounded bevel dip drop on the sides, the panel cannot mount over those curved drops.
  • The windshield washer jet cutouts - they are cut for the LR3 and LR4 (critical footprints are distance apart of the jets, distance from the windshield side of the hood edge, etc.) If your D5 jets don't match those distances exactly, the panel will be sitting on top of your washer jets and will not mount.
This is not a match for the D5 hood, unfortunately.

Regards,

We understand that part about the jets. D5 doesn't have the hood jets.

There is only slight curvature to the D5 hood. I believe the 3M would conform to it.

Would it be to much trouble for you to get us the measurements? (Let us decide if it will work for us.)

thanks

Cascadia does not allow us to post panel measurements publicly.

They would like to help you directly with your D5, however. I will PM you their contact deets.

Thx.
