I would say for sure. My 2018 came with the Goodyear Eagle and I found they didn't last long "scalloped" apparently. And their winter weather performance was terrible. I switched out quickly...

 

My new LR3 came with Goodyears and the first blew out on the highway within a few months. I changed them all and traded in the 4 remaining almost new tires. They were not robust enough for this type and weight of vehicle.
I changed to Nitto Terra Graplers at that time and never had another tire problem in 135k miles over 12 plus years.

 

Do you like the G2s as well? Just curious . . .

I really liked the original Grapplers.

 

3 sets of the original Terra Grapplers then I had to buy the G2’s. Didn’t really like them and sold my LR3 (not because of the tires) pretty soon after I got the G2’s.

 

Sorry for bringing an old thread back to life. General question... I'm about to upgrade to LT275/55/20 Falken Wildpeak AT3W with a load rating of "D". I'm coming from 275/55/20 Cooper Endurance Plus' in XL load rating. Those came on the car when I purchased and have come to the end of their life. I'm wondering for those of you who have made the jump from XL to an LT tire like the BFG KO2's, did you notice a major difference in how the car drove? Did it feel sloppy? Heavier? Would love general feedback. Thanks!

 

First I went with KO3's, they drove swirly, and loud as hell.
I switched to KO2's AT, they are great.

Went with 275/55/20 General Tire Grabber ATX. They were very unbalanced, loud, and rough riding. Swapped them out for the APT model from the same brand, and couldn't be happier. They may not be quite as aggressive as the ATX but the trade off for on-road comfort is completely worth it. I noticed in the specs the APT was quite a bit lighter as well (but still heavier than the OEM pirelli all seasons)

 

I’ve had the Toyo Open Country A/T 3 on my 2018 HSE for going on 2 years and a solid winter of Lake Tahoe snow. Excellent in snow! Have really liked them.I think they’re pretty comfortable and quiet on highways, and treadwear is very good, too.

I’m surprised I haven’t seen other responses suggesting this tire. It seemed like a pretty popular option when I was shopping, though a new model. My priority was to have an everyday tire for NorCal that would be good in that Tahoe snow (they stay on year-round). So, the 3PMS rating for this tire and great reviews for snow traction plus less compromise for all the rest of the on-pavement driving convinced me.

I don’t need them for real off-roading, so that may be where the K02, Geolander, and others become more popular.

I had the Toyo Open Country AT3's on my 2011 LR4 and absolutely loved them. I was super impressed with their grip and performance. They always performed and left me feeling super confident in getting behind the wheel in any condition. I'd definitely recommend as well.

I ended up going with the LT275/55/20 Falken Wildpeaks. I've only had them on for a few weeks, but so far I am impressed with the lack of road noise and handling of the vehicle with heavier tires. I had the Cooper Discoverer Rugged Treks in XL 275/55/20 on my Jeep Grand Cherokee and those were incredibly loud, but those are much more aggressive than the Falkens. The Rugged Treks look awesome and handled great in wet conditions, but were too loud for my taste and I needed something that would perform on road, in wet/snow, and on trails, plus the price was too good not to try the Falkens.

I've had the KO2's on my 2008 LR3. They were great for a while and then fell victim to dry rot. They performed great in PNW winters/wet conditions and never left me stranded. When I was shopping for the D5 I felt the price point and reviews for the Wildpeaks were excellent in comparison based on TireRack.com's comparison tools (Falkens - $280 v KO2-$320). Will upload some photos in the coming days.
