What besides the towing package did you add to your setup? Brake controller, etc?

Also, I remember seeing somewhere that LR doesn’t recommend sway bars with the Disco. Just wondering since it looks like that’s your setup?

I am a beginner to towing so looking into what I’ll need. We had planned a long road trip last summer but then covid happened, so aiming again for this summer.

I had a brake controller installed and I’m using a Blue ox 1200 weight distribution with a husky anti sway. The weight distribution is on the very light setting, almost nothing. The trailer is 31” 5500#. I have heard “don’t use” and “I used it for years” so I just used it. I’m also new to this.

I can see a travel trailer in our future at some point, so if it’s an Si6 Disco I’ll be curious to know how well it tows when laden uphill and downhill etc.
Looks cool!

It was from Yuma Az to El Centro Ca, it towed awesome, it was very windy and the disco aka (tank) Took it like a champ. 1800 rpm @ 55mph the whole way. Approximately 50miles of driving.

It’s a gas engine?
What mpg did you get?

I was so focused on the road and strange noises I didn’t bother looking.

I have a '17 TD6. Tow a 2021 Grand Design Imagine 2400BH. It's about 29ft and 7300lbs loaded. We live in the Seattle area and it's very hilly and many mountain passes. I couldn't be more pleased with the performance. We use a Redarc tow pro brake controller which is amazing. The controller is hidden under the LH side dash and probably took me 15 minutes to install. We use a propride hitch for sway control; it has weight distribution, but I use minimal tension. The seat of my pants ride seems better without using a lot of distribution, but I have used it quite a bit without issue.

Coming out of a 2008 LR3 with the same setup as above is night and day with regards to downshifting and RPMs. Stability is about the same, but the Discovery is more comfortable.

You can look under “Journeys” on the app and get that info any time:
