Default Hotspot SIM card

Does anyone know if the replacement SIM card can be any sim card from AT&T? Ours got lost and not sure if I can just go buy any SIM or not.

In the UK you can use any, regardless of network.

You can use any carrier SIM, it doesn't have to be AT&T. Ours was missing also, we replaced with a new SIM from our carrier set up to share our family data plan, like a tablet.

I had mine set up with Tmobile but after a couple of months, I deactivated it for another cell phone line on my plan. THe satellite view which I love (from Android Auto Google maps,) would only display in 2d instead of 3d, so I just never used it. When we did take an interstate road trip, they capped your LTE data at like 2GB so by the time we were coming back, you had to use your mobile hotspot on your phone anyways.

Hello, can you message me and let me know what sim you used? I have a '18 Discovery 5 HSE Lux and tried an EE one and it didn't work.

I'm in the UK, so replying to your comment, thanks in advance.

Hi Mate,

I use a SMARTY sim, I believe thats based on the 3 network and it works fine.

If you use this referral link we will both get a free month too

Do you get better than 3G when using other carriers than AT&T?

Your carrier & plan determines that. I got a device add-on SIM that pools our family plan data, it runs on 4G all day except in the sticks when it drops to whatever is available.

One thing to note for the iPhone-iacs is Private relay sadly doesn't work with the hot spot.

I guess I wasn't sure if it was the Rover hardware or the AT&T SIM. My D5 is a 2017.
