Default Lost key fob, need help

Ok, I have a unique issue. I have lost my fob inside my vehicle somewhere and can't find it. I've looked EVERYWHERE including under the seats, in the seat and in the seat rails. Literally everywhere inside and even the engine compartment.

So I can lock/unlock my LR5 with the app and remote start. I can hop into my vehicle and start it without a key (as it's inside somewhere and always detected). I can also lock the vehicle and unlock with my extra key. So basically if I left my vehciel unlocked, someone could just jump in, start and drive away. I do not get a message saying no key detected but I'm not sure that message exists in this vehicle. Does it?

My question, if anyone can help, is how far from the front seat does the key detect to be able to start the vehicle? Can someone test for me? That maybe give me an idea of how far from the driver seat the key is. Will the LR5 start with the key in the trunk?

My next step is to start taking out the seats and pulling up the carpet. This is just insane. I do notice some large cutouts in the carpet under the driver seat that a fob could slip into.

Been there before with another car, had to take a bright LED flashlight and look under every nook and cranny under the seats and in between console before I found it. Had to feel around as well because it looked like a actual part of the seat metal structure that I surely missed before. Be sure its not underneath the cup holder storage, and in any nook in storage areas. I will test later and get back with you, it does seem the D5 is very sensitive to remote location, about 3 feet to me.

Tested this and seems like if the key fob is anywhere in the car, it will still start.

I keep a spare key in my vehicle wrapped in aluminum foil in case I loose my key. Car will not start when wrapped in foil.

So.....

Grab some aluminum foil and put under each seat and see if it blocks car from starting.

Good luck.

I hope that after 30 months the OP has found their key...

If you still don't find it, I would say take it in to the dealer. Deactivate that key, and get a new one. Cheaper than a car, and a long explanation to insurance company if the car is stolen.
