Default Need help. Center storage (behind climate controls) won’t open

So here is an interesting one for you folks. Got in places my key in the center storage (Behring the climate controls). Got home, the storage compartment won’t open. Is there some weird trick to getting open? I have the key in there so basically anyone can drive the car if I can’t get it out. Anyone had a simmilar issue? Know of a way of getting it open manually?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Find something that you can pull the top out with like a bent piece of wire. Then push the button and use the wire to pull it open.
Mine did this and dealer repaired it under warranty.

Same here on my 18, would stick closed. Dealer replaced as well.

Should it normally just take a single button press? For mine it always took two quick button pushes to get it open.

I guess this might be a common issue with 2018s.

thanks guys.

No, one push is all. And it applies to 2017. Mine worked ok for a couple times then stopped opening without pulling on the top of it. First dealer said they shimmed it and fixed it but it still didn't work. Another dealer fixed it correctly and it works with one push. I guess I should check it again to see if it's still working.

So got the car unlocked with an activity key. Pushed the button and it opened the first time, so I was able to get my real key out. This is a great car but man does it have a lot of quirks.

This happens to mine as well - the easy way to open the compartment is to press the button and pull on the volume switch simultaneously - this does the trick for me.

I have this issue as well, car is just 5 days old and I use one had to push the button and use left temp control to pull. It works! Next service appt will need to address it.

Glad you got it out. This is good to know, I am making a mental note not to put anything too important in there!

Default Intermittent fault

I have the same issue. It seems weather dependent, the warmer it is the more likely it is to work. Dealer services the hinges and said it ‘should’ work, but problem still there.
