The wife was in an accident a couple of weeks ago and totaled our beloved 2014 LR4 HSE LUX. With limited time to replace the LR4 we decided to purchase a 2018 Discovery HSE with 60k miles. The vehicle had a clean 1 owner Carfax and looked practically new. Unfortunately in less than 24 hours the CEL came on. Although we did purchase a 12 month warranty with a deductible I wanted the dealer to take are of the issue which they are attempting to do. I can’t help but feel some buyers remorse but our LR4 was very reliable taking us from 60k miles to 125k miles before having the accident. Have I made a mistake thinking the Discovery can deliver 4 years and 65k reliable miles like our LR4?
Short answer is yes. The LR4 was a great vehicle that was still produced in the good ole UK.
The new D5’s started off with some wonky issues, mostly electrical gremlins. It is a totally different vehicle from the LR4. Hopefully your dealer can resolve the problems and y’all can enjoy your new purchase. Glad your wife is OK.
Disagree. Don't think you've made a mistake. And a 2018 Discovery was still produced in the UK just like the LR4. Although not sure why that matters?
Not surprisingly people sometimes part with cars when they have an issue. You have a warranty and hopefully dealer can resolve quickly.
We did the same as you. Had an LR4 HSE Lux and it got us to 100k miles trouble free. Bought a 2018 HSE Lux (new and to our spec) and we have loved it. Done over 50k trouble free miles so far. Electrics all great. Powertrain great
Had the leaky windscreen issue which was quickly replaced. And an irritating rattle from the rear seat which is 90pc better. Rest has been perfect
I liked the LR4 but the new disco drives much better. Lighter, more responsive, much much more fuel efficient. The LR4 are brakes and tyres. We are 50k miles and still on original pads and rotors.

Stand corrected, 2019 were Slovakia. Your new Discovery shares a platform with the RR so that's a positive I suppose.
Any issues you may have, come here and tell the forum members. The people here are very helpful. I don't own a D5 so I will just shut the hell up. I just like the LR4's
No, early 2019s were still in the UK. Ours was one. We ordered in July of 18. It sat line down in UK for nearly 2 months supposedly over the windshield issue and, ours did NOT leak.
But see that thread if you care to see what happened when my service department did the windshield recall on it anyway.
One CE problem I would not be worried about unless it becomes chronic. We have only had 2 problems to date beyond what our service department has created.
Looking at this 2017 diesel because I'll be traveling a lot and my F-150 5 L gets terrible gas mileage, what are the things to look out for? Listing below thanks in advance

2017 Diesel for $11k? I know these things have depreciated a lot, but that seems too good to be true. I would want to know if the owner/dealer has cleared the check engine light to hide a major issue. We love our 2018 TDV6 HSE. It's a very nice ride on and off road, but you really do have to keep up on the maintenance and drive it right to keep the DPF happy.
Can't stress the pre-purchase inspection enough. Its $150-$250 upfront, but will save you a world of headache. Find someone reputable, don't go through the dealer/private seller.
