Default New A/T tire from Toyo: Open Country A/T III

New tire from Toyo looks good. Many sizes will be available. In the OE 20" size for our D5's, you can get the OE size of 255/55/R20 or 275/55/R20, so if if the extra 0.9" of diameter is not worth the speedometer error to you, this is one of very few A/T tires in OE size and perhaps the best. (vs. more expensive Goodyear Duratrac and Falken Wildpeak AT that isn't as A/T oriented as their A/T3W tire).

I just purchased these for my truck (35's) and will have them installed this week.
I will consider them for my Range Rover when my current tires need replacement.

Looks like a very interesting option, given the claimed improvements for wet and water traction.

Default 21”

Why don’t they make a 21”? Just insufficient demand?

Agreed. I could really use a 21" AT and can't find any.

Nope, not without major rubbing.

Perhaps with new wheels, less offset or spacers to kick them out farther but you really don't want a 40 series ATR tire anyhoo.

Quite a few new vehicles with 21s now. You'd think someone would be making one . . .

The clearance problem on the D5 isn't just the size of the wheel well and the diameter of the tire. On the front tires the inner edge of the tire can get close or rub the knuckle which is shown as item 3 on attached diagram. You'd have to check if you get too wide.

I was just looking at this part diagram yesterday to see how involved it may be to swap calipers with the Brembo's that come on the gas vehicles. Sure, new caliper and rotor, but also a new knuckle, so I'm out right there. Ironically, the calipers are about the same price and the larger rotors for the Brembo's are actually cheaper. Miffed that we still got the Td6 here in the US in MY20 when UK/Euro and Australia got the twin-turbo Sd6, and these front brakes are just another miff.

As for 22" A/T tires, Toyo Open Country All Terrain 3 has some 22" sizes including a 285/45/22.Continental has a good All Terrrain tire in the same size, as well.

There are no 21" A/T tires that I am aware of in large part because there are only a couple of 21" tire sizes with even 45 or 50 aspect ratio tires. i.e. it's just not a tire size that translates into an A/T tire very well - your best bet is a second set of 20" wheels. I at one time in my build had 21" wheels selected until I soon thereafter realized the 21" A/T tire options were nil, so I went back to the 20" wheels.

I can't confirm that the diagram I posted was exactly correct for the D5. I was posting it to identify the knuckle as the clearance location that needs to be checked.
Please make sure you have the exact diagram you need for evaluating caliper swap, etc. as that's not why I posted it.
