Default Nothing like dropping $3k on a new EGR valve.

At 93k on the Td6 it was time. I get it. Been riding around with a CEL for months. I knew what it was. Soot build up, etc. etc. Hopefully this will get me through another 80k or so miles.
Also coincided with the need for a new battery. These AGM's aren't cheap yo. Again, a once in a few years thing.

One thing the mechanics inspection found was the front driver lower rearward control arm balljoint seal is torn leaking grease, The recommended solution is to replace the entire control arm??? Anyone dealt with this??

Did you do your EGR yourself? How was it so cheap?

No, my indy shop did it. Part was $1000, then labor.

no core, I got the old EGR, going to clean it. I'll post it when I do.

Damn. I had an indy shop do it as well. Part + labor + replacing the coolant there was $3k.

Wonder if I got taken or if this is what things cost now. Ugh.

They're quoting me $900 to replace the control arm. Sound reasonable?

Yes, nearly 100k for a control arm isn't unusual on any vehicle.

How much is 'expensive' for the battery? A high quality AGM with 3 year warranty is something in the $250 range. And about a 5 minute job to replace. What did you pay?

Damn. My shop charged $650 for battery install and reprograming to the car.

First time I've used this shop and not too many places here work on LR's (esp. diesels) outside of the dealer. But I definitely need to keep looking.

you don't have to program a 2017 D5. I would find another shop.

Interstate battery roughly runs $300. 45 min labor $90.
