Up here in Canada we got some good offroad trails not as good as some in the states but still good I was planning on taking the disco offroad with a 2in rhino rods lift and no all terrain tires just the stock tires the trail is rated 2/5. If it gets stuck because of not having AT's where are the recovery points on the front and the back??

 

Yes. If you don't have a trailer hitch, both front and rear are covered by plastic covers. If you have a trailer hitch, the rear recovery point is exposed. Front is covered.

I recommend you get a big slotted (flat head) screw driver to remove the pieces. If you want to be fancy, get a Nite Ize Doohickey Key tool (see link below). This tool is PERFECT for removing these panels. Also bottle opener, etc. I think you can use a coin to remove the plastic pieces but a real tool is the way to go.

Refer to your owners manual for specifics on the recovery points. If you snow bashing, I would recommend removing both front and rear covers beforehand.

Or cut an access hole in the panel so you don't have to fight with the panel at the worst possible time.

I wouldn't be so concerned about getting stuck with those stock tires as I would be about cutting a sidewall.
But a 2 out of 5 rated trail sounds like a slightly rutted dirt road.

The front recovery point is strong. And you are using it for off road use so, good to go?

You can keep the cover off or put it back on personal preference. I think the car looks better with it on. So I keep mine on most of the time.

Yeah these cars come alive off road once you install some good off road tires.

Yesterday I removed the front cover, measured the area where the hook is located, cut it out with a Dremel tool, and remounted. Pretty straightforward process and thankfully no broken clips. Picture of cutout and reinstallation.
