Default OTA updates...update.

So, I have a 2017 HSE Td6 and was not expecting to be able to get OTA software updates.

However, yesterday morning I got a notification on the display that one was available and ready to download!

One thing I noticed was that it seemed to work when the vehicle was connected to Wifi and not when it was reliant on 3G. This may be a quirk of my vehicle as I've had a bit of 3G wonkiness. I know this because the message of an available download popped up after I started the car (and thus was connected to my home Wifi). I hit "accept" and download as I was pulling away and it appeared to stop the process. However, when I got home later, I got a message saying the download was complete.

So, there it is for what it's worth.

Any noticed changes? Is this just infotainment or does it handle other things? Right now my oil quantity always shows zero.

I haven't noticed any changes. Though I also haven't dug through all the menus either.

The update said it was for infotainment.

@ 1979rover: just a detail: does your D5 connect automatically to your home wifi? If so, I assume your's not pw protected..... I was wondering if the D5 can store the home wifi password somewhere as it is annoying to re-enter it each time!

Yes, it is connected to my home wifi and yes, it is quite well protected. When I set it up in the D5 it asked for a password to connect and stored it.

Must be rolling out the update by region? I have a ‘17 Td6, too, and checked this morning. No notification. What version are you on now?

Just connected mine to home wifi this morning but pressing "check for updates" tells me I am up to date even though 19A.

They must have some way of staggering the roll out I guess to reduce server load? (you'd think they'd have some sort of cloud auto scaling in this day and age mind...)

That’s the response I got last week, too. Haven’t tried this week.

I'm curious if the dealer has to update you to 19B first?

I had just had mine in and I know they did a software update. But then I got the OTA update about a week later.
