Default Removing Roof Rails of Disco 5

Hi All, eyeing up a new Disco 5.

Comes with roof rails which I will never use.

Are the roof rails easy or possible to remove? Any water leakage issues if done?

If you google the instructions (including on here) to add them, you can see what's involved in removing albeit in reverse. Looks straight forward, biggest issue is removing the cosmetic ends. I think you'll need to get cosmetic ends & trim specific to no rails. Like most cars, the rails screw into designated spots; adding or removing doesn't affect water accumulation. Now if you're looking to sell your rails, I might be interested!

The rails are pretty sleek. They don't stick out a lot. So although we never use them I still added them to my build just in case we wanted them and for good resale. Didn't cost much to add. I actually like the look.

In my opinion, I don't like the look of the rails. Takes away from the unique roof. That is just me though, and the fact that I've never used them on any SUV.

When I climb up my 3 step ladder to wash the roof they make a good handhold. Sometimes my steps are wet and slippery and that handhold helps. I'm not old and infirm but I've slipped on the wet steps when in a hurry. Plus I use the crossbars for my ski rack and to carry lumber and other stuff.
